NEW YORK, NY - When Theodor Geisel, aka Dr Seuss donated a painting in 1963 as a charitable contribution, he could not possibly have known that in 2010 it would be hanging in a medieval castle in France, and that, to date, it would be his only painting on public display. Now, the philanthropy of one of the world's greatest illustrators will live on through this work of art.

A benefit cocktail reception on Thursday, February 4th from 6-9PM at Animazing Gallery in SoHo will debut a serigraph on canvas of this whimsical masterpiece, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit The SoHo Partnership. The gallery is located on the corner of Broome in SoHo, at 54 Greene Street. RSVP requested via (212)226-7374 or rsvp@animazing.com.

"The Secret Art of Dr Seuss" was revealed after Ted Geisel passed away in 1991. This critically acclaimed body of sophisticated and imaginative work includes paintings and sculptures created during his lifetime that he rarely showed in public. The collection will remain intact at the estate of his widow, Mrs. Audrey Geisel and eventually belong to a museum. Through the permission of Dr. Seuss Enterprises and the Dr. Seuss Estate, a collection of limited edition fine art prints and sculptures have been published and are now available through select fine art galleries around the world. The artistic contributions of Geisel in the 20th century have been applauded since 2004, when a museum exhibition toured the globe. During his lifetime, Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated 44 children's books that sold more than 500 million copies, and his last, Oh, the Places You'll Go! (1990), is still on bestseller lists. His books have been translated into twenty languages as well as Braille. Click here for more information on the artist.
